Therapist

Dr. Stephanie Sandler specializes in working with women as they prepare for and navigate the transition into motherhood (conception, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, life after becoming a parent) as well as the challenges (postpartum mood and anxiety concerns, OCD, processing birth trauma, coping with loss, relationship difficulties) that may accompany. She utilizes an evidence-based, eclectic approach based upon extensive training in perinatal mental health, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD/trauma, and substance abuse, having trained in a variety of modalities (including CBT, DBT, and short-term trauma therapy). Dr. Sandler holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. A mother herself, she enjoys the collaborative process of guiding women through various stages of motherhood as they develop their identity and confidence, explore how to meet both their own and their family’s needs, and work to maintain healthy relationships with those around them. Therapy is seen as an opportunity to understand oneself, develop skills and strategies for coping with challenges that come with being a parent and partner, and pursue goals that bring about long-term happiness and success.
